Topics I Counsel Most Often

Fear and Anxiety

The world can be a terrifying place. Fear and anxiety and panic can rock you to your core in the face of it. It’s my privilege to enter the chaotic world with you and begin to walk toward anxiety as the door through which you’re able to take hold of your faith in God in a new way.

Emotional Health

“A healthy, godly emotional life doesn't just happen. It takes work, time, and grace. An enormous amount of work, actually — and a *lifetime* of grace. But it's a different kind of work than you might think. In fact, all Christians seeking to live faithfully before the Lord and grow in relationship with him are working on their emotions, though most aren't consciously aware of it.”

-Alistair Groves & Winston Smith

Sorrow and Depression

“Realistic hope runs deeper than any pain. It can take the same experience and offer a different script and meaning. Deep pain so easily gets infected and turns self-destructive. But pain and loss can transform into a deeper good—still fierce, still sorrowing, but now clean. Not only clean, but hopeful, fruitful, wise, and loving.”

-David Powlison

Past Abuse and Trauma

“Each story of trauma in Scripture is embedded into the larger and better story of redemption - these accounts are never erased or treated as insignificant. God redeems, and he also remembers each tear.”

- Darby Strickland

Marriages and Relationships

Loss of connection. Struggling to move through past wounds. Broken friendships. Strained relationships within your family. The list is endless. Whether it is the pain of fractured relationships that you are coming in for or practical tools and skills to work on a relationship you are currently in, I seek to use biblical principles to guide us in walking faithfully with one another in relationship.

Singleness

This isn’t the story you wrote for yourself. At some point you looked around and realized that most of your friends were married with children. Sorrow, grief, loneliness, anger, bitterness, confusion. All of these can be so near as you seek to find your bearings the story the Lord has written for you.
